Warm Up Drills & Calisthenics in Mixed Martial Arts

Greetings! My name is Grand Master John Le Grand otherwise known as the Phoenix Sensei. The name of our system is Lost Legacy Systems, University of Mixed Martial Arts. We are located in Coconut Creek, Florida. On behalf of Expert Village, we are going to show you how to become a Mixed Martial Artist. Warming up is important because you got to get the blood flowing and you have to get your muscles loosened up in order for you to be able to perform maximum potential. Otherwise your risk of obtaining injuries is high. You definitely don’t want to get cramped up, you don’t want to get any type of muscle spasms going so we always warm up and we stretch really well before we get into any physical activities. There are different kinds of warm-ups. You need to do a lot of calisthenics, get your blood flowing and heart pumping and all the different types of stretching and Taekwondo. They do a lot of leg stretches; stretch your groin, hamstring, your calves and stretch the back of your arms. Every different kind of stretch you can do; your neck, you want to make sure to stretch your wrists. A lot of times we do Chigong which is breathing exercises to circulate the energy flow throughout your body. That’s a whole different topic.
