Infield & Outfield Positions in Baseball

Hello! My name is Adrian Arceo and I'm here with expertvillage.com. Now we are going to talk about the 9 basic defensive positions in baseball. Everything starts off with the pitcher. A pitcher is always going to be located in the middle of the diamond on the pitchers mound. He is the one that starts off playing baseball. What he does is he throws a pitch to the catcher. So next we are going to move to the first baseman who is in charge of covering first base. Beside him we have the second baseman who is in charge of covering second base. Now between second and third base, you have the short stop. Now this is considered the most athletic position on the field and finally we have the third baseman. These are the basic infield positions. Now we are going to move on to the outfield positions. These positions are not as busy as the infield but they are still important. You start off with right field, and then you have the center fielder which is like the captain of the outfield, and finally we have the left fielder who is in charge of covering the left side of the outfield. So broken down defensively, you have the infield defensive players and the outfield defensive players. Other players like softball, might be a little different but in baseball it is 9 defenders that cover the entire field.
