Hi! This is Pat Weber with the San Diego Surfing Academy for expertvillage.com. The elements: sun, wind, air temperature, water temperature are all things that you need to concern yourself with. Make sure you buy enough sun screen to protect yourself from the sun's harmful rays. Wind, air temperature, water temperature are all important factors to consider. Make sure if your local conditions call for a wet suit, that it is proper fitting; have a good coverage to prevent hypothermia.
