Runway Walking Techniques for Fashion Models

Hello, my name is Shalon Delgado and on behalf of Expert Village I’m here to talk to you today about how to walk. It’s very important to learn how to walk especially in heels. You want to practice walking in at least 3 inch heels everyday for at least a few hours and it may be hard on your feet but it’s going to help you with your posture and help you so that you don’t fall on the runway when you actually get on the runway. You want to meet your designer because your designer is going to tell you what kind of outfits you’re going to wear and that determines what kind of walk you’re going to do. You have the long straded walk, the short straded walk, using your hips or not your hips, the bebop, there’s all kinds of walks and you want to research them and learn them all. You also have basic turns that you want to do on runway but that’s also up to the designer because the designer is going to tell you rather he wants you to do turns or just stream line, walk down and walk back runway. Now when you practice your turns you want to make them smooth, ballet like, very artistic and have them flow into your walk so you want to practice that in heels also. You also want to walk, your walk tells a story about the clothing that you’re wearing and the clothing is what the designer’s giving you, so make sure that you’re telling the right story with the walk.
