Pre-Shot Tips for Lining Up Your Golf Drive
Hi my name is Kensey Snyder on behalf of Expert Village. We’re going to talk about the pre-shot routine. Right now I have my ball teed up and I’m going to pick an intermediate target on the ground, it can be 6 inches or it could be 3 feet away, whatever really stands out and is something that you can align your club to. I have a rock for use that I’m going to line my club over. So I stand behind the ball, I pick out this piece of dirt, piece of grass, rock whatever you need it to be. And I’m going to move into the shot in this fashion. I’m going to line my club up over this rock as I’m doing right here and from here I haven’t even looked at the target yet. So when I feel comfortable that my club is aligned up to this intermediate target, then I look up and visualize the shot. I see where I’m trying to hit it, what kind of shot I want, then when I feel comfortable I am going to pull the trigger. So when I set up my club and line it up to my intermediate target I want to feel as if I’m one with the shot I’m trying to play. So when I do, I pull the trigger. Now the routine is very, very important. I don’t care what you do, how you do it, just do it the same each time, we want to be comfortable and feel comfortable and a routine helps us feel comfortable that we can pull off the shot that we’re trying to do. I just showed you my routine, I took two practice swings behind the ball, I pick out my target and then I hit it, I do it the same time whether it’s a 7 iron, a pitching wedge, a sand wedge or a driver. So for you, do the same thing, pick a routine, stick to it and it should help out your game immensely.
