Harmonizer & Pitch Shift Effects for the Electric Guitar
Hi my name is Gary Schutt. We’re talking about guitar effects, right now we’re going to be talking about harmonizers, otherwise known as pitch shifter. With this harmonizer we can also do diatonic harmonies, which means that it will automatically process the harmony within a certain scale, minor scales, major scales, melodic monitor scales, harmonic monitor scales, blue scales, pentatonic scales, all that. So right now I have this set to major scale key of E and interval of a third, so if I play an E major scale it will automatically play 3rd intervals above what I’m playing within the scale. Now I have it set to E minor in 3rd intervals, so if I play an E minor scale. I now have this set to minor scales, key of E with intervals of a third and a fourth above what I’m playing which gives a very interesting kind of sound. So if I’m playing it’ll play a G and an A. I can move that around anywhere and it will automatically calculate the intervals and you get some pretty cool sounds out of it. I have this program for a song that I wrote many, many years ago called “Dangerous Horseplay.” This type of effect comes in many different versions, this is an old rock mount, you can also get them in a stomp box version, they also come in plug ins for various computer music programs, like pro pools.
