Hi! I’m Mike with expertvillage.com today I’m going to be helping troubleshoot an internet connection that isn’t working. Sometimes the simplest things can elude us. If you’ll notice, our cable modem here isn’t really lighting up and that’s because there’s no power. Always make sure that you’re actually getting power to your cable modem or DSL modem. Cable and DSL modems, even though one has a phone line for DSL and cable has cable internet, they really act the same as far as how they act. You’ll notice that this one all the lights came up and now they’re blinking. What it’s doing it’s synchronizing itself with a network. It has to authorize with headquarters sort of speak and say hey I’m I allowed to be here, am I allow to have an internet connect. Now you’ll see that we have all of our lights lit up like they should be and we’ve got some intermittent blinking, which indicates traffic. Those are data packets bringing you music videos and your email, the news and the weather.
