Healthy Chocolate Chili Veggie Smoothie Recipes
Hi! Nili Nathan with Expert Village. This next smoothie is a chocolate veggie chili smoothie. I’m really excited about showing you how to make this because a lot of people are not into eating vegetables. This is a great way to incorporate some raw vegetables into a chocolate smoothie for chili lovers. So for your picky eaters, this should help them get more vegetables and they won’t even know that the vegetables are in it because they won’t taste it. We always start with our base. I’m going to use a rice milk as the base. You can use regular milk or soymilk or the almond milk that I showed you how to make earlier. For our protein, I’m going to use protein, this is 100 % organic and it’s got chocolate chili in it. If you read the contents, which I am a label detective, this is very high in protein. You get 13 grams of protein. By the way, there are lots of protein in vegetables and fruits, so that is a myth that you only get protein in animal food. There are plenty protein sources besides our animal source. Anyway, 13 grams of protein and 9 grams of sugar, so I’m going to kind of watch how I sweeten this because it’s already gotten some sugar in it. One gram of saturated fat; that’s good, 0 cholesterol, 22 grams of carbohydrates. We’re getting the good complex carbohydrates, so I’m going to use this. I know that my father in law, who’s really picky with heath stuff; he doesn’t like any health stuff, I think he’d like this because there’s chocolate in it and I’m going to sneak in some vegetables and give it to him without him knowing. This whole pack right in here. I’m going to first try it without adding any sweetener and see how it goes, because the apples I keep with the peel and the seeds; apples are pretty sweet. Put that in there. You know what, I’m going to throw in a little dandelion leaf because this has iron and it also helps the liver in our body detox toxins, so that’s good. This kale, I’m going to show you what to use….this has been washed already. I’m going to show you what to use with this. My friend Rob in Los Angeles, who owns Leaf Cuisine, he showed me how to use kale. I love this trick; you just go like that and just throw away the stems. So thank you to my friend Rob for that little lesson. You throw that in here. At this time, if you know your family member has a favorite like a banana, strawberries, or blueberries, that’s a good time to put it in there. Put the top back on. Remember that flax seed that we made? This is a good time if there is a member in your family that needs more fiber to use it right in the smoothie; right in there. Let me just taste this and see if we need to add anymore natural sweetener. For my taste it should be fine, but I can see how you might want to add some agave. They don’t process their stevia. Stevia is an herb and many of the white powdered ones that we find our processes. This is live, which means it has lots of enzymes. It actually helps regulate the blood sugar level throughout the day. Let me just find a spoon here. It’s an excellent way to sweeten a beverage because it has 0 grams of sugar, 0 carbohydrates, and it’s pretty delicious.
