Healthy Veggie Chocolate Smoothie Recipes
Hi! Nili Nathan with Expert Village; I’m doing smoothies. This next one is a veggie chocolate smoothie. This is great to fool your children with. I do it on my little girl. As a matter of fact, I’ve been making this since she was a baby. She had a period of where she was a little anemic, and I used dandelion leaves everyday, just a little because she was a baby. I just used maybe about 1 or 2 leaves in this smoothie concoction and she drank it everyday. The healing properties of the iron is very rich and natural iron really helped her. It also gives you a boost of energy and dandelion is very good for the liver, helping the liver detox toxins in our body as well, so that’s also super. You’ll have your rinsed dried dandelion leaves, a banana, unfrozen, and some carrots. I generally don’t peel a carrot, I just maybe scrub it a little bit; you know wash it and scrub it. If you want to peel it that’s okay. We’ll start with our base, in here I have chocolate milk. You can decide if you want to use chocolate rice milk or chocolate soymilk. There is some controversy with soy these days, so we don’t use soy products very much in our house so I’ll leave that up to your discretion. You can also use the rock or just get unsweetened chocolate. Because this is for kids and we want them to eat it because they’re going to get the dandelion in it, you can use maybe maple syrup. We have that; we have are base. Then we throw in a little bit of the dandelion leaves; maybe just about that much, our carrots, our banana. My hands are washed. Here we go. Now, if you want to give your child a little bit more fiber…remember the flax seed in one of the previous clips that I grinded up in the vita mix too with a flax meal. This is an excellent way of giving your child natural fiber everyday. They’ll eat it in the smoothie and it’ll keep them nice and regular. Just a little bit, 1 or 2 teaspoons. Then you want to pour in about a tablespoon of maple syrup in there, and that’s all there is to it. We start off low and we work our way up to high. You see this is a very sneaky way of sneaking in some raw vegetables. As we know, raw vegetables have more enzymes than when they’re cooked so always try and incorporate some raw vegetables into your daily diet. That tastes excellent to me. If you want to sweeten more you can, and don’t forget to freeze it as popsicles. This is a yummy treat; it tastes just like a chocolate popsicle. The kids that come to our house love it and they have no idea that they’re getting that extra vegetable in there.
