Under Arm Hook Takedown Jiu Jitsu Technique

Hi! I’m Marc Zee from Arizona Center of mixed martial arts. I’m here to represent Expert Village. Go ahead guys. Alright, what they’re demonstrating is an under hook takedown. Okay, what they’re showing is…Most street fights, a guy is going to throw a big wild right hand punch. People that are not skilled fighters like to put as much power into it, and you see big wide looping right hand punch. A good way to neutralize that punch is just by using an under hook. The under hook, as you see, I’m putting this leg in between his legs. The reason I’m doing that is I’m taking his balance away. We only have one hand on each other to work for any striking. He really can’t attack me anymore. Once I get that second under hook here, there’s virtually nothing he can do. What I’m doing is I’m stepping between the legs here, underneath here, and I’m taking his weight off of him. Notice how he’s off balance here; I have perfect balance. My next step is I’m stepping around. Okay. Where I’m stepping to…I’m in a straddle position here, grabbing around the waist here, sitting down. From here, he relatively has no striking whatsoever. You can try to throw an elbow to the head. Throw an elbow to the head. As long as I say tight, there’s going to be no damage. From this position here, I’m trying to get him to the ground as quickly as possible to where I can either subdue him or to keep him from attacking me any further. What we’re looking at here, he throws the strike, I under hook. I under hook again, palms together, I step. From here, the side position, what I’m trying to do is with this foot I’m going to use the bottom of my foot to sweep. If I kick the foot, it’s not going to lift the foot; it’s not going to go down. What I’m going to do is I’m going to sweep. Since I got a mic on, I have my colleague here demonstrate. What he’s going to do is he’s going to use the bottom of his foot, sweep the back of the leg, and take him to the mat. One more time all the way through, let’s do it slow. Throw the punch, under hook, step around, do the sweep, take him down. You notice, once he gets to the ground, he’s stabilizing the position; he’s not allowing the person to recupe or to put him in any danger whatsoever.
