Using the Tremolo Arm or Whammy Bar in Metal Guitar
Hi this is Gary Schutt and I’m going to talk to you about the whammy bar, it’s a bridge system that pivots with a couple springs on the back so that you can push your notes down or you can bring them up. There are many, many noises and techniques that you can use with a whammy bar. You can bring notes up, you can start up and come down on them, you can flutter, you can dive bomb by hitting a fretted harmonic. We’re going to use the seven fret G string, D note. That’s a dive bomb. If you know where your harmonics are, you can do it anywhere.
