Jacqueline makes several really good points in this video (she's obviously speaking from experience). I like the "rug" in the garage tip and the MUST for a door. But she also touches on something very important to all work-from-home moms -- helping kids to feel a part of what you are doing by getting them involved.

Setting Up a Home Based Business Office
Hello! I'm Jacqueline on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip I will be talking about setting up an office space away from the kids. The main thing to do is set up an office space away from the kids is to have a door. There needs to be a way to physically remove and separate yourself from the rest of your household if you intend to take on a workload. Depending on your home, you may have some space constraints but here is how to work with what you have available to you. If you have a garage, finish it as much as possible to make it cozy, to make it serve the purpose of being an office. Put down a rug. That instantly transforms a room from a place to park your car, to a place where you can spend time working. Invest in some bookshelves or whatever it is that your particular business demands. Shelves help to store your office supplies and also double as room dividers. Speaking of room dividers they are another inexpensive way to separate a multi-purpose area. They are very stylish and effective. Another thing you can do is use a door hanger; do not disturb. You can even have your kids make it for your so they feel like they are a part of it and they understand what is going on. When mommy goes into the room and closes the door, she needs to do her work.
