Forty-Eight Stone Mancala Game: Part 2
Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we’re discussing basic tips for playing the game Mancala. So let’s get right back to our game. We were playing a 48 piece game, so 4 of the stones in each of the compartments, now I started off with the first move here. As you can see in the earlier clips, we talked about 3 stones per smaller compartment in here, so I would have gone 1, 2, 3 to get my last stone in here so I can get another turn. Instead we pushed back to the component just before it, so I went 1, 2, 3, 4, I put my last stone in there so I get another turn. Now, I’m going to take these stones here and I’m going to sow them 1, 2, 3, 4. Now you can right in here, some of these are getting rather full. Now it’s your turn, so if I were you perhaps I would also go 1, 2, 3, 4, you get another turn. Now, keep in mind, you’re heading into my side so you might take these stones here and you 1, 2, 3, you put it in your compartment, 4, 5. Now, yes you landed in an empty compartment but that’s on my side so you just leave that stone there because you want to leave your stones on your side. It’s only when you end up with your last stone on your side that you get to take the stones that are directly opposite that, so just keep that in mind. If your last stone falls on my side, it just stays there okay, so you definitely want to keep that in mind when you’re playing the game Mancala, especially when you get into more advanced play, you can forget that very easily because the games tend to go very quick and people get very grabbing, happy very quickly in there. So keep that in mind, only do you keep the stones when your last stone ends up on your side what's directly opposite of it.
