Thirty-Six Stone Mancala Game: Part 2
Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we’re discussing some basic tips for playing the game Mancala. Now, let’s continue on with our game that we’ve been playing with 36 stones, alright. So we got a close up of the board once again. You are player A, I am player B. Now, some things to keep in mind, as I mentioned to you, it gets very interesting when we have a lot empty compartments here because when your final stone goes in an empty compartment on your side, you would get everything directly opposite it. Well this last stone ended up here and there was nothing there to collect from. A really good tip and technique you might say, is to definitely strategically think about where your stones are going to be sown. It’s a good idea to start spreading them out because if for instance, I had a whole bunch of stones on this side, when you got to here you would have stolen them all. However, if some of these stones had been each sown out into one of each of these compartments here, you can see once you start spreading these stones out, if your last stone end up into this compartment and the only thing on the opposite side is one stone, they get to keep it obviously, yes they do but they’re not getting as many stones as you would in a very full compartment. So think about emptying out these larger compartments as well, when you’re strategically playing the game Manacala.
