Bidding Nil in the Game of Spades

Hi, my name is Dan Kimbrough on behalf of expertvillage.com, in this clip we are going to discuss what nil is in the game of spades. As you could see laid out a hand here. This hand is legitimate, you got a king, an ace and spade, means you have to play the actual hand but you have lot of low cards as well, you could go nil on this hand and depending on if the cards are played right do it extremely well. Nil again means that you are not taking any books what so ever. Rather then bid zero and get zero points you could bid nil to get 50 points and not take anything. Now when you are playing with a partner it is up to your partner to help you. If you start seeing diamonds lead, you are going to get rid of your diamonds. Once your diamonds are gone if your partner is smart, they will continue to play a diamond or a heart or whatever because you are trying to get rid of stuff. They are going to play extremely high and you are going to play extremely low. The goal of that is eventually you run out of something. Once you run out of it instead of cutting with the spade, you are going to throw off and get rid of your ace. That ace is gone you got a perfect nil hand. So the goal is try to make sure that you could get rid of all off your high cards when they don't count. Doing nil properly will insure the fact that you get 50 points, it may come in handy rather for going for zero.
