How to Remove a Toilet Wax Seal
Today we’re replacing the toilet. We’re just about to install the new toilet. It’s been pre-assembled a while ago. What you want to do in here is get all this old caulking off the floor because you’re going to have to re-caulk it. And you have all this wax around the drain. Get yourself a plastic bag, open it up, and a disposable rag and your going to scrape any wax that’s on there off. Try not to drop it into the drain, it might cause you problems later. Try not to touch the wax- it will get all over everything. Get your rag and you want to just grab these bolts and slide them to the end and pop them out. Then use the rag to wipe around it, and you might as well spray it with some disinfectant while you’re at it, too. Can’t hurt. Make sure that you get all this caulking evened out on the grout line and sweep it up. This one didn’t have much wax, but some of them are covered in wax. And that’s how you would prepare the area for the toilet installation.
