Basic Stances for Rumba Dancing
Hi, this is Leslie Sack with expertvillage.com. We’re doing Rumba and this is just a little introduction to what you’re going to be doing with your feet and with your body and your frame as you’re doing the Rumba. So the most important thing here is that you’re going to lift your body up really tall it’s a fun little thing, you just bring your arms over your head, bring your elbows down like you’re just at the gym, okay lap pull down and bring your elbows in front of you. This is for the men and women and this is what’s going to create your frame. If you’re a guy you drop your right arm down around her back, if you’re a girl you drop your left hand down and then you wait in front of each other. So if you see me from the side I’m going to lift up and I’m going to lilt forward from my ankles just a little bit because we want this forward feeling because that’s how you’re going to connect with your partner. So as we’re stepping we’re going to be leaning just a little bit forward but don’t lean on your partner keep your lift. Alright and as you’re stepping you’re going to take little steps, alright wherever you go little steps and it’s a based on walking backwards. So notice how you walk backwards you’re walking on the ball of the foot and the heel and you’re stretching one leg and bending the other.
