Aikido Spinning Head Throw Technique

Ron Gotlin, head sensei and lead instructor for Biscayne Park Aikido Club in Biscayne Park, Florida. This technique that we will demonstrate now is called Aki Nage. Japanese word for Aki is attacking the person’s head and this time instead of going off the line to his inside, I will be going out the line to his outside. What is going to happen in this technique as he attacks, I step off the line and I am going to attack him here waiting for him to rise. When he rises, we attack in that fashion. What this would look like in real time and using again his weight against him, down, up and throw. What is happening is he is being cork screwed in my arm. I am turning in a very small circle and his body is turning in a much larger circle which enables his feet to fly out from underneath him and fall. Again in real time, I lock, take him down and when he comes up I turn and throw. Called Aki Nage. This is one of our basic techniques in Aikido. Thank you. We will be right back.
