Aikido Under Arm Throw Technique

Ron Gotlin, Biscayne Park Aikido Club in Biscaye Park, Florida, sensei and lead instructor. The next technique is Ude Garuma. Ude is the Japanese word for under the arm and in Ude Garuma what happens is this time when I attack I find his shoulder and I break his balance here and throw. What it looks like in real time is off the line, Ude Garuma and throw and holds him up again to support his weight coming down. If you watch closely without touching James as James would attack me, I would simply get out of the way. My main purpose in the throw is to be totally defensive and move out of the way. Ude Garuma, step off the line and throw. This will complete that technique of Ude Garuma. We will be right back.
