Car Tire Information

Hi! I’m William Myers from Austin Subaru for Expert Village. Okay we’re going to talk about tires now and there’s a lot of information on tire a lot. There’s the tire size, there’s max load rating what the max pressure can be and it’s all on your tire, so when you want to find out any kind of information you can look at your tire and get it. This happens to be a P22560R16 now the 225 stands for the tire width and that’s a fully inflated tire and that’s not the tread width that’s from the bolds to the side to the bolds on the other side, now the 60 stands for the height of the tire and the 225 the 60 is 60% of 225 mm, now the 16 stands for the rim diameter and that 16 inches so that’s what they all stand for, the R rating is of course ratio but they’re all mostly R’s nobody runs bias ply tires very much anymore or things like that, that’s what the numbers on the side of the tire mean. Now tread is very important on a tire very important, now there are what they call wear indicators on the treads and you really can’t see them here but you can take a penny, you can take a penny and if you stick it in the tire and you can see the top of Abraham Lincoln’s head I mean see the whole head then you need tires and it looks like I’m going to be replacing these tires pretty soon.
