How to Fix a Paper Jam in a Fax Machine
Hi! I’m Mark Westling with All Brands Copiers, Laser Printers and Faxes on behalf of expertvillage.com I’m here to talk to you about what happens when your fax machine gets a paper jam. Okay relax first thing take a deep breath, now there’ll be an indication on your display saying that a jam has occurred, sometimes it would of occurred in the document feed area right here these are documents you’re faxing out. If a jam has occurred in the document feed area it’s very simple, you open up the document feed there’s always a release somewhere go ahead and open it up, remove the documents if possible it’s best to move the paper in the direction of the paper travel, so remember if the paper is going this way through the machine you want to remove it in that direction, pulling it backwards can damage parts of the machine and tear off small pieces of paper that will remain inside and continue to cause problems. The same is true with the copy media or the paper we’re printing on, now this is a little more complicated sometimes to remove a jam, you have to open your machine up all of them open up a little differently some of them have more than one cover. On this particular machine we open up the clam shell like this, we remove the toner cartridge and we look in there you can see in here where the papers coming out, usually it’ll be right here there’s no place for it jam to where you can’t find it, on some of the larger more sophisticated machines there are doors in the back that have to be opened, on the side handles that need to be moved, if you have a question about the use of your specific printer it’s best to refer to your owners manual they’ll have all the information you need there but this is the basics on how most laser fax machines work and how to remove a jam.
