More Suggested Listening: Rockabilly Double Bass
My name is Ken Steiner and you can check out my gigs, I play usually in the Boston area Boston, Massachusetts, you can always visit www.kensteiner.com check out my gigs I play a variety kinds of music, I play in jazz bands, I play in blues bands, country bands so you can always check out my gigs on my website and my email address is there too. One other guy I’d like to talk about who is really pretty obscure but I think he’s a fabulous slap player a fellow by the name of Ransom Nolan. Ransom Nolan from what I can find was pretty respected bass player who played with Muddy Waters, played with Elmer James but what really caught my ear was this CD Robert Nighthawk, Bricks in My Pillow, pretty obscure CD it’s sure reviewed by a lot of blues lovers but if you pick this up you can hear that Ransom Nolan plays some of the most over the top and great slap playing ever especially in a tune called, “Going to Kansas City” where it just tears the roof off it’s just fantastic and they’re serious slap players I’d really recommend you getting this CD even just for that cut but it’s a good CD anyway.
