Why would that be called a sweep kick? That's simply a round house kick that you're walking into.

As soon as you kick the hands drop down which invites punches, elbows and of course the thai-clinch.

Sweep Kick in Advanced Kickboxing

Hey, I’m Danny Hawk from the Normandy Gym in Miami Beach, Florida again. Also President and owner of Hawk’s Fight Wear. You can reach us at HawksFightWear.com. I’m going to demonstrate to you a sweep kick, coming off a basic boxing stance; it’s basically an advanced kickboxing concept without falling, a kick from behind, and you’re going to kick the leverage for a punch from the forward move. Left foot forward, right foot back, inside, hands are up – ready to punch or kick at the same time. Here we go, and that’s a sweep kick. And that’s a sweep kick right there. Hands are up. Make sure we pivot, pivot on the follow through. Now let’s add the right half combo to that as well. Right over the top. Still in position, still in balance, once again. Right over the top, still in position, still in balance. You can also use the elbow, to block and also to lean after the combination is over. And that’s another advanced move.
