This is Leslie Sack with expertvillage.com my website is lesliesack.com and this is west coast swing the state dance of California. We are doing a mans part for the locked whip. Whips are 8 counts patterns so this is going to be the first 8 count pattern and in footwork it looks like this. You are going to be holding on with two hands you are going to want to do the sugar push first. 3 and 4,5 and 6, two hands. Your feet goes 1,2, bring it in 3 step out, 4, and your are going to step around, 5,6,7 and 8. So you are doing a full 360 change of direction. So one more time 1,2,3 and 4, 5,6,7 and 8. So lock, step, put your foot in, step out, forward, forward, triple step. What you do is a completely different set of step in here so just keep doing your part and you would be fine. So in this direction it is 1 she goes under, 2 she whips out and 4, step forward, turn 5 and 6. So you are going to let go with your right hand at the very end. 1,2,3 and 4, 5,6,7 and 8.
