Sliding & Combining on the Cello

Hello my name is Russell Squires and I’m here today on behalf of ExpertVillage.com. Right now I’d like to take a second to describe a brief technique on the cello called sliding. Sliding is done by moving your fingers from one position to another in a fluid Llegato manner. This produces all notes in between those two and a very graceful sound most of the time. I would now like to demonstrate not only sliding but also Llegato, Staccato and Vibrato techniques in a small selection from a piece entitled, “Tar and Tala”, written by a composer named William H. Squire.
