Drilling Leg Holes: How to Build a Small Stage

Hi I'm Grady Johnson and I'm the producer of Strange Company and today I'm representing expertvillage.com. Okay now we are ready to put these legs on and to do that we are going to have to drill a couple of holes per leg. Two holes will allow us for two lag bolts and these are going to be half inch lag bolts. So I'm going to take off the screw bit. Alright now when you using these wood bits remember they are very very sharp. This is a half inch bit that is what your are going to need for a half inch hole and be careful when you are moving around with this because it could cut your pretty easy. Put that on nice and snug. Once you got it were you want it go ahead and drill it in. now once you got that to go all the way through you are going to want to back this in and out of there to kind of clean that hole out. Now once you got that all cleaned out and that hole is secure take a bolt at ht your are going to be using and pop that in there. I recommend that you that and do it with your fingers. Be very careful the threads on these bolts because once you script the threads you got a whole other disaster to work with. Okay now that you have that one in place it is were we want it now we can go ahead and put in our second hole and we are just going to look for the right spot for that and you want to bring that up a little higher this time and those two bolts would anchor this in place the way that we want it. We are going to put this one a little higher but not to high we don't want to come through the top. That looks about right. Be careful that you don't put your hand behind this and poke your hand or anything silly like that and once again we are going to clean that hole out. Okay now that we have the holes put in and they are all lined up properly we can go ahead and put the bolts in and then we have our legs put on for the platform.
