Hi I'm Grady Johnson and I'm the producer of Strange Company and today I'm representing expertvillage.com. Okay we got everything all measured out so now we are going to do our cutting. Now when you are using a circular saw be careful. This tool could be a little scary but it is really not a scary tool if you use it properly. It has a guard on it to protect you and it is not like the old style ones that were really unsafe. Okay you see that I like to work close to the ground, it is just kind of the way that I work. You can get saw horses for this work or you could get a work bench. Remember that you want your edge that you are cutting off that you want to be freely open on the end so that it won't fall. Don't put it in the middle like here and do your cut because it would bind together and is not going to cut properly. Now when you are cutting normal safety things apply this do have guards on it and be sure that you use the guard it does have a safety catch be aware of that and be sure that you use safety glasses. It is okay to wear sunglasses as long as they have the wrap around kind but if its of course really dark you don't want to do that. If you spend a lot of money on this but I got these at a hardware store for only five bucks. Okay lets go ahead and cut this thing and see how it works. On your saw this one is a portable one but you would find some of them have the cord. Keep the cord out of the way don't cross across it so that is the only thing that you have to worry about if you have a cord saw. If you are using a battery power like this be sure that your battery is charged up and of course this is your safety catch. These look a lot scarier than they really are; they are pretty safe if you use them safely. Cut so that all of the cut material is coming off to the far side of your line and you are not going to have any problems with gaps. So lets go ahead and try one. When you are lining this up you want to line this up so that the marker which they put on here is on the line. Now they are not always exactly true so be sure that you keep a eye where it is actually cutting to. So it is actually hitting that line like you want it to. Now you can see that I cut this on the other side of the line keeping the distance that I needed with out adding too much on the other side that is a nice clean cut that we could count on and that is going to work for us. Then you find that you made a accurate cut and then you are ready to move on to the next piece. That is pretty much all you need to do to do this type of cutting and if you saw this properly and always do your cutting away from the line not towards you you never are going to have any problems with changing the actual length. If you get these length correctly then when it goes together for a platform it is going to stay nice and level.
