Correcting Colors in Photoshop

My name is Dan Kallenberger. I am an instructor at a technical college teaching Visual Communications and Photoshop as well as other Adobe products. I’m going to be showing you Photoshop CS2 today. Sometimes you want to use color correction tool and there’s several in Photoshop that you can use. This sunset somebody already adjusted the color on it, but I’m going to change it back to the way it was originally when it was originally taken. There’s a lot of ways that you can actually do this. One of the adjustments are you can use auto levels. You have more control when you do color balance and curves. We’ll get into curves on a later date. Color balance we go and we can take the cyan out, we can increase the green and increase the blue and we’ll get to more of an image of how the image was taken and you can adjust your image that way. When I say okay that actually applies it to them. I’m going to do the undo and I’m going to go into adjustments. I’m going to show you another way to do it. Hue saturation is another way to do this. You can change the hue of an image. This one if you want to make a specialty piece and you want to take some color out of it you can change the hue, you can change the lightness. If you use colorize that actually gives you more of a monotone or monochromatic look to it and you can adjust images this way too. You can make your saturated or de-saturated images that way and when I take it in the water lilies, you’ll see the difference when you do a adjust hue saturation and you change your hue. You can actually do some really neat art pieces with that. That is color correction.
