Hi! This is Connie Hale and thanks for joining me here at expertvillage.com. Today we are learning some ballet beginning moves, classical ballet. We are now going to work on some pique; pique meaning to pick. We are simply going to do that with our feet across the floor. We point out into a tendu, we are going to step up onto it, other foot is coming up into a passe; passe is simply bending the foot, toe is touching to the calf to form a letter P with your legs. So we are in tendu; we are going to pick up into the foot. Pick up for pique. Tendu out, pick up, down. Again, across the floor we have tendu, pique down. Tendu pique up, down. Let's do opposite direction. Tendu, pique up, down. Tendu pique up, down. Again, let's go over our tendu. Tendu is pointing the foot, knee is facing up to the ceiling, passe would be up; making sure this leg is turned out. If I face to the side, foot right along my body; might even be able to see my other leg as it comes up in the air. See, now you see it? Now you don't. Extra proper position for your passe. Facing this way, right up. Turning out from the hip. So again pique across the floor is tendu, pique, pique. All right, thanks for learning pique.
This is a big help for me. My neices are taking ballet and they often ask me for help. I can now assist them when they are dancing at my home. Thanks
