Hi I'm Andrew Bridden here on behalf of expertvillage.com I'm at the Arizona Center of Mixed Martial Arts I'm a fighter here as is Freddy Luna. We are going to be demonstrating some Muay Thai techniques today. Things that we use to toughen up the legs. As we previously discussed leg kicks is one of the main techniques in Muay Thai and by no means in a fight or a sparring take a lot of leg kicks but, however we got to toughen up our legs in case that happens. So this is one drill that we do that we just kick each other in the leg not full force but, enough to were it hits our legs and out legs just kind except the pain and deal with it. So Freddy would kick my leg. I will kick his and we just go back and forth. We will do a few of those and then we will switch to get the other legs in. the same thing and after a while you don't even feel it. It hurts really bad at first but, you would get use to it. Another one that we do Freddy would grab the Thai bag there on of our main straining aids and he is going to swing it on my leg and I'm going to bring my leg up and this toughens up the the chin. Cause your chins could also hurt really bad when say I kick and he checks it and we connect bone on bone. So check my kick like that that is really going to hurt the chin. So the way that we toughen up our chins is like this. Go ahead and swing. Like so. 1 or 2 of these don't hurt to bad but a couple of hundred will. It just toughen up the chins to the point you won't feel the pain as bad in a fight. So there is just a couple of things we do in order to improve our conditioning of our legs.
Hi there Andrew. Nice videos. It's interesting that the leg really toughens up, but, have you ever heard a fighter saying that his "bone was harder"? Hehe.. I have heard that, but, what really happens is that we kill the nerves that make us feel the pain, so the mind won't feel it, but the leg will. In my trainings here (in Brazil), another thing that we do to help the legs is exercise them as much as we can, cause, the more muscle, more impact absorption before the bone is hurt. Anyways, nice video and keep traning hard! See ya!
