More Advanced Beat Matching for DJs
Hi I’m DJ Brady again on behalf of ExpertVillage.com. In a previous clip, I discussed that normally beat mixing would be done within the headphones, I played it out loud for you just for demonstration. Now I’m going to show you how to do it in the headphones, make sure your headphones are plugged in, make sure you select the correct channel, go ahead and bring it in. Now, I’m going to go ahead and turn it back down, so that you can hear what I’m doing in the headphones. On mixers, you’ll have a headphone selection function, just turn channel two off and press channel one on, as you can hear it’s playing and you can adjust the volume of it. You can also adjust whether you’re playing the program, O-cue-cue, is what you’re hearing in your headphones and about to bring into the mix. So, I’m going to go ahead and select channel two, I’m going to get channel two playing, as you can hear, I’m going to go ahead and bring one up. Now as you can hear, they’re off. Now, I’m going to go ahead and begin my mix, as you can hear they’re off, so I’m going to go ahead straighten it out. And make sure that my channel two fader is up and then I’m going to bring the cross fade in. Bring the headphones away and I’m going to bring it across, I use the headphones to cue the material and to beat match, and then I use the cross finger to bring it into the mix or live on the floor.
