Where to Stand When Singing Into a Microphone on Stage

My name is Dave Jackal and I am going to give you some advice on just how close to get to your microphone. Now when you are performing in a club, chances are there is a sound engineer somewhere back there who may or may not be paying any attention. So your best bet is to get as close to the microphone control as close as possible. Like this. Even you could let your lips touch the microphone a little bit but just be careful because of other people's lips have touched it too. So you might want to take some vitamins or wash up for mike a little bit. But get close as you can because you never really know how long they are pumping you or paying attention. You want to make sure that no matter how good or how bad the speakers are, they are going to pick up everything that you say. There are times you don't want to get too close to the microphone however. This is when you are screaming. Because just like you want to be close to the mike in case the sound person isn't paying attention. You also might want to pull back a little bit just in case they are not paying attention.. They are not always going to know when you are going to scream so they don't know when to bring the volume down and if you scream right into the mike, it is going to sound. Awful. So if you are going to scream pull back about half a foot, let our your scream, then you move back towards the mike. Screaming right into the mike just sounds awful.
