Hammer On Techniques for the Banjo
Hi I’m Fred with ExpertVillage.com and now we’re going to talk about a couple of left hand techniques that are basic to bluegrass. The first one is the hammer on, we’re going to put our first finger on the second fret on the second string, and we’re going to use our second finger to hammer on the third fret and we’re using our first right hand finger to pluck the second string. This is the basic hammer on used in “Foggy Mountain Breakdown”.
