How to Play the Earl Scruggs Banjo Roll
Hi I’m Fred with ExpertVillage.com. During this segment we’re going to talk about some of the basic banjo rolls. The first roll we’re going to show you today is the Earl Scruggs Roll. And for this roll, we strike the third string with the thumb pick, the second string with the first finger, the fifth string with the thumb pick and the first string with the second finger. And we repeat that. And when the roll is speeded up it sounds like this.
