Banjo Chords
Hi I’m Fred with ExpertVillage.com and today we’re going to learn a couple of chords that are not quite so basic in bluegrass music and that’s the A chord and the E minor chord. For the E minor chord, we’re going to put the third finger on the first string on the second fret and we’re going to put the second finger on the fourth string on the second fret. This is basically the same as a C chord, except we’re lifting this finger, this is an E minor chord. And then the A chord, is a bar chord. And that’s produced by laying the finger down across all the strings right behind the fret. So to make an A chord, we just bar the string on the second fret. E minor is used in typical bluegrass songs like “Foggy Mountain Breakdown”.
