Proper Measuring When Using Hand Held Power Planer

Rob McMahon with Expert Village. The technique for using your power plane is you got to know how much material you want to take off. This is a board that we scribed with a belt sander, so it is not straight. I am going to straighten it with a power planer. The first thing to do here is to get a straight line. That is a fair amount of material to take off. So I am going to set it the full depth and start in the middle. Turn it sideways so that I can see it a little bit better.
