Sizing Up Your Boxing Opponent

If he gets a shorter guy, he knows that he’s going to have to lengthen his jab, for most guys it’s going to be short. So what he’s going to have to do is, instead of throwing long jabs at the strong guy, he’s going to have to shorten it. He’s going to shorten it and hook off, like to the body, to the head. He’s just going to shorten distance from being a taller guy and most of the time he knows that’s he aint going to be able to like – I’m kind of short, I’m 6’1”, he’s about 6’2”, 6’3”, 6’4”, so in his length, most of the time with a 6’2” guy like me, he’s not going to have to shorten, but so much, his distance now he can back and his jab now. If he threw his jab, it’s going to reach you, that are going to reach you, but if it doesn’t reach, he’s going to have to shorten the length. He’ll shorten it, and instead of throwing it long like this, he would throw it like this. Instead of just making it fully extended, he would just snap it. He would snap it, he would snap it and pull it back, and then come with like a long right hand or something like that. But, until he gets that distance shortened, then he’ll come in and he’s got all of this to work with. All body, once he’s close enough to that guy, he’s got all body to work. And from there, he can set anything because once he’s killing the body; the head is going to die, most of the time.
