Hi! My name is Dan, and I am here today with Expert Village to show you how to tie a cat’s paw knot. Often times it is used in fishing line, but it has numerous other applications, like tying to a hook in a block and tackle. So what you do is take your line and make two loops facing you, and then twist three or four times. You want to do the same number on both sides. Match your loops up and then slide onto a hook or a carabineer—so that’s a two hook cat’s paw. I’ll show you one with a few more loops. Remember, it is important to make the same number of twists on either side. It is a very secure knot. It can take a load from either line coming out of it. To untie it, all you have to do is take it off of whatever it is attached to and pull both ends. So that is how you tie the cats paw.
