Freeze Frames in Final Cut Pro 5

This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I will show you how to work with freeze frames deinterlacing. So now let's talk about freeze frame and deinterlacing. What is a freeze frame? Well freeze frame is a frame of video or frame from your time line that has been frozen in time. Freeze frame; simple enough, right? Well how do you make a freeze frame. Well, as many different ways. First you have to answer why you want to do a freeze frame. Why would you want to make one. For many different reasons. Let's take this clip for an example here. This clip pans over and hits the sun. Now what if I just don't like that sun but I really like the shot and I want to put text on it like I want to end my video with some credits here. I don't want it to go all the way to the sun. I just want it to go to the building. Well I wish when I shot this I stopped at the side of the building and just shot the side of the building. That way I could put text over it. Okay, well you can do that with a freeze frame. Basically just go to the frame you want in your time line, we'll say right there, and we are just going to go ahead and mark that with a marker just so that I can find it later on. Just go up to modify and click make freeze frame. Now if you notice in your viewer you now have your freeze frame right here. Now the duration is set to only one frame. That is because I changed it to one frame but you can change that setting up in your user preference to whatever you want. So if you want to just make it longer, I can go ahead right now and just make it say 2 seconds, 200, now it's 2 seconds long. The reason I marked that frame in my clip and my time line so now I would know where to drag it back down to. So I drag it on top. So now instead of going all the way to the sun it plays and stops. It just stops. See that. Stops. So it is just down the side of my video and I can go ahead and extend it if I want, make it even longer and I can just put my text on it or whatever I want to do.
