Using the Time Graph in Final Cut Pro 5

This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I will finish up showing you where you can affect the parameters for time remapping. Now on top of that you can then use what is called the time graph. Now you notice that I did add some key frames up here in this little box here. You can see the key frames that I added. I can shift them and move them around and all that and this is affecting where the key frames are from my time remapping. Now there is another view you can use called time graph so right click, if you'll right click right inside this box here. Go to time graph; now your time graph comes up. The time graph shows you all the frames as well if you notice. It moves in correlation but it has more of an angle to it. So it kind of shows you in which direction time is flowing. Next you have the motion bar. Now the time remap key frames appear on the motion bar and these key frames can be dragged forward in time using this selection tool. When you use this feature in combination with the times lines speed indicators, you can make specified speed adjustments very very simple. Like I said manipulating these two bars, you can change your speed and you can do some pretty complicated and sophisticated stuff. Then there is the motion tab viewer or the motion tab up in the viewer or again, you can just change your points and set stuff up. You really need to play around with it. That is the best I can say because you will learn as you do it. Again, it is a little awkward because it is not like all the other parameters you have for different filters. You know moving the Y access and the X access or both different, so you need to just get used to it. Once you do get used to it, you will notice that you can make some really really nice looking affects.
