Moving, Copying, & Deleting Transitions in Final Cut Pro 5

This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip, I am going to show you how to move, copy and delete transitions. So after you add a transition, you can move it or change to edit point; it's up to you. You can also copy transitions. If you want to quickly add the same transition at another point in your sequence. You can also delete them as well. So to move one, first let's go ahead and place one in our Time Line here. Just go ahead and right click and add transition crosses off. Now let's say I don't want it at this edit point though, I want it at this next edit point. Well I just click drag it and I just drop it right on there. It is really as simple as that. Now to add the same transitions quickly elsewhere within your sequence, you can copy and paste the transition to other edit points so this is helpful if you change the transitions default settings and you want to use the same modified transition again. Well, just highlight it. You can hold the command key and hit command C for copy. You can also right click and go down to copy and now for pasting it, you can put your play head over the edit point that you want or you can select the edit point. To paste it with the keyboard just hit Apple V and it is pasted in or if you want, you can go ahead and just right click and hit paste. Now you can also copy by holding the option key while you move a transition. So let's say I want to move this middle transition into the left here, well I can just hold it and old the option key and then I drag it over here and when I drop it. Oops sorry, there we go. You have to hold the option key first before you click and select this to hold it. Then when you move it, it will drop it and copy it.
