Hi this is CJ South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip I'm going to show you the capture now function in final cut pro. Time to learn how to capture video starting with the capture now command. It is really the easiest way for capturing video, and it is a good idea to get comfortable with it before you move on to clip or batch capturing. So we are going to start with that, we are going to start with capture now. Like I said it is the easiest, so all you have to do is just click play on your video. Make sure that you see it playing in the viewer, and then just hit capture now and it comes up and it starts capturing right away. Everything it's playing is now being captured on your hard drive, being recorded for you to use. So you can just go ahead and click escape to stop it, and it stops. And if you notice, hey look where the, look where the video went: right into your browser. So this is where it is going to put all of your media files. So everything you capture is going to pop right into that bin. So again just go ahead and click play, and then you can click capture now. Record some more, whatever you want, and you can just kind of go through your tape and capture whatever it is that you are looking for with capture now. It is really, really simple to use. Again now if you limited your capture now earlier in the capture settings, let me just pull that right up real quick, back in scratch disk, if you have a limit on your capture now, when you click capture now, it will only record for a maximum of 30 minutes and after that it stops. Then you notice there that I forgot to play the footage; always remember to play footage—that is very important. Otherwise you capture nothing but black, and that is not good.
