About Flat Back Technique in Jazz Dancing
I’m Kelly-Anne. On behalf of Expert Village, I’ll be demonstrating advanced jazz dancing techniques. An advanced technique is called flat back. The goal is to keep the spine straight in any position. You don’t have flat back. What you need to do is keep you hands by your side and bend forward. What you really want to do is keep the chest up and lengthen out. Bend you knees; it’ll be easier. Really feel like you’re pulling up out of your back, but keep your head in alignment. There are several dance studios in you area that would be very happy to have you join their group classes. There are lots of choreographers who specialize in different types of jazz dancing. Just try them all out, see which one you like the best, and stick with that for a couple of years. You’ll be grooving just fine.
