How to Use a Metronome to Practice Rolls in Irish Flute Playing

Hi I'm David Cantieni on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to be sharing with you some useful techniques for practicing the Irish style flute. I'd like to show you how a metronome can be your friend. It can also be your enemy but lets try starting as a friend. This is my nice old mechanical metronome. I have it set so that it rings every four some of the new electronic metronome would do that for you to. So what I like to do is if you are practicing rolls listen to the metronome and you can play. You get the picture. Or you can put in the context of a tune if you are learning some tunes you still want to use the metronome. Lets play a here is the beginning of Dunmore Lasses ..... Okay or for instance I was actually was inspired to make up a tune. I was making up some roll, exercises and came up with this. That was the A part and you'll see how you to can make up a exercise some combinations of rolls to go along with your beautiful metronome. But you notice in this kind of exercise you want to stay very even and try to get each one where you exactly want it to be. I think my metronome is running down now so good luck.
