My name is William and today we are going to demonstrate the proper use of the squelch control in your citizens band transceiver. The squelch is the second button in from the volume and with the squelch all the way to the left you will hear a hissing noise. The proper position of the squelch is turn to the right and the hissing noise goes away. This will then filter out the strong interference that you are receiving from adjacent channels are from atmospheric conditions. If you are trying to reach somebody way in the distance, you may shut the squelch off all the way to the left and you will receive the hissing noise once again. But in most cases the squelch can be around the 12 o’clock position that will give you a quite receiver until the signal is received that you are trying to listen to.
