Tightening the Straw Bales of your Straw Bale House
Now that we have the bales wired and they’re somewhat prepped, I’m having a little trouble keeping the pins in here. Typically you do want your pins a little longer- these were just for example of what you use to pin the wires in. and there’s also a tool called a hay needle which is a long metal, flat tool and it has a little hook on the end and you put a piece of wiring bale or wiring string through one side and to the other side. You pull it out and you thread it together, and it helps pull and kind of sew the wire solid to the bale. So your concrete is not wanting to do this and fall off- because it will flick off if the pins and the wires not tied down properly. So you definitely want to use that- I don’t have one today to show you, but I’m just giving you an idea of how we’re going to make this a more solid structure.
