How to Avoid Splitting the Wood with a Nail Gun
This is Rob McManhon for Expert Village. It is not always going to be the same. So you may have to drive it with your hand to get it flushed. If you want it flush it is better to keep it sticking out a little further then not. Now if you are nailing a one by to a one by you are going to want to use a shorter nail. The longer your nail the better chance of it blowing out one side to the other. So we already got our depth set which is important here especially since the further down it goes the better likely hood you have of splitting. When shooting these together in order to avoid missing you want to keep your gun lined up to the edge there so that the pin is right in middle of the board that is coming through. You want to stay away from that edge as much as possible to avoid splitting.
