About Nail Gun Nails
This is Rob McManhon for Expert Village. There are different types of gun nails that you use. These are for framing. They are 3 ¼ inches - it is 12 pending nail. These are more for siding or using thinner stock that it. 8 penny - 2 ¼ inches. These particular ones here have a ring shank which helps with the hold. Now if you look at them you can see a little discoloration on the very tips here. This is a heat activated glue. When the nail is shot it causes heat with the friction going into the wood. That actives this glue it gives it a tighter hold. The ring shank on these nails just increase that. You can get them galvanized or bright as they say which is none galvanized. Now you want to choose your nails depending on the size of your stock or what you are using them for. The 2x4, if you are nailing them together, you want to use the longer nails. Now this is 3 inches. The nails are 3 ¼ so when you are nailing you want to nail at an angle like that instead of straight down. Which would give you your point sticking out.
