How to Mix Ingredients for a piñata
Hello, my name is Cindy Glover and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'm going to show you how to mix the flour and water mixture for you piñata. First take your balloon that you’ve blown up and you’ll want to secure the tip of it to your surface which will make it easier to apply the strips of newspaper. In the flour and water mixture your measurements will be: one part water to one part flour and so you’ll decide on how much according to the size of the piñata that you’re making. Mix it and as making sure that you don't have any lumps and you’ll want your consistency to be that of a glue, this as I said before is the most commonly used mixture and if you don't want to make your own mixture, your local Hobby Lobby or a store such as that a craft store have the piñata in a roll and so you dip it in water and apply it to the balloon. Once your mixture is done, you’ll take your newspaper strips one at time, dip them and with both fingers get rid of the excess and lay it on the balloon. Make sure that you smooth all edges down, then your next strip will lay just overlapping a little bit on the piece next to it. Continue the process until the balloon is fully covered except for a circle around the tied part of the balloon, in order to when the piñata dries and it’s decorated you will puncher a hole in balloon to bust the balloon which you can pull out and then the piñata is ready to fill with treats. You’ll repeat this process after the piñata dries for one day, you can repeat this process for 1-2 more times but no more than 4.
