How to do the Springing the Cards Card Trick: Part 2
Hi everybody Malik the magic guy for expertvillage.com. Now for the second part of springing cards. This is sort of where we are trying to go with this is to get the cards springing from hand to hand. It looks really cool. There is no way that you are going to do that for somebody and they are not going to be impressed, unless they can do it better then you; and even then they might be impressed. So I've told you to take about 10 cards to start and practice getting your hand strength down for the bend. Now eventually you want to add cards, maybe 20 and go up to about a half the deck. Okay this is about half a deck right here. And you are going to practice again with the hand strength. And I've got... this is the grip that I got here: this is from this side; this is from this side. Okay. Just by gradually releasing pressure, the cards are going to start coming off. Now when I first learned this—I'm going to hold my hand really, really close, and kind of hold your hand like a claw to catch the cards. It helps if you do this over a surface like a table, or like a bed is really good. Eventually what will happen is you are going to build up to the whole deck, you are going to be able to bend it like that, and you are going to be able to spring the cards. You are going to find that there is going to be some up / down motion when you are springing them, but that will come with time, the control. Now this is going to put a bend in the cards so when I'm practicing this, what I do is each time I do I turn the deck around so I'm bending it the other way. And if you just practice with your gradual release of pressure, you'll find that the cards—it is the natural spring of the cards that does it. I'm not doing anything to propel them. This hand is totally still and they are just going. And you would learn how to control the pressure, to control the speed and distance of the cards. The further away your hand, is the deeper your bend is going to want to be. So practice that. Start with your hand close, get gradually further and further and further away. Practice over a bed and practice hard. Don't get discouraged, and you'll have fun springing cards and impressing your friends.
